vincbt Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 May be opening a can of worms, but would anyone know how these compare to the previous AO 60s or to the AVRI 62 and 63? I have a 71 P which I love, but questioning if I should really keep so much money in an instrument given the current gigging schedule. These could be a happy middle. Quote

I think these AV's are a newer iteration of the old AV basses. The ones I've seen I've been really impressed with and they seem to be pretty faithful reproductions in terms of fit and finish. The AO's were slightly different in that they weren't year-specific (I.e. not 62 or 64, but 60's) so they were a bit of a mash up of all years and any variations. Similarly they did away with period correct neck radius and a few other things. I liked them, but they weren't really vintage reissues as such. 2 1 Quote

Stub Mandrel Posted April 16, 2023 Author Posted April 16, 2023 The bass has had a week and a half to settle down, hanging in a Hercules stand. I'd already set the bridge as low as I could go but there's been a bit more bow in the neck than I would like. Took the scratchplate off, and used a Stewmac tool to put about half a turn on the truss rod. Now about 1.75mm at the 12th fret and no buzzes. Very happy. 🙂 1 Quote
BillyBass Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 At least you didn't have to take the neck off, one so called 'feature' of vintage basses. Quote
