John East BTB02

Recommended Posts

I've just emailed John to enquire when the BTB02 will be back in stock cuz I'd like to try one out in my Tobias.

The Bartolini active contour thing it has is pants.

I'd be missing a trick if I didn't ask here about experiences/opinions of the BTB02.

On paper it looks perfect & I know the reputation Mr East has for creating quality preamps.

Any thoughts?

The BTB02 has always been my favourite preamp from John East.

It does what it's supposed to do perfectly.

Say no more!

I think I'm sold on it to be honest.

I did consider the uni-pre but it's a far more complex beast & it's simplicity I'm after.

Hopefully the BTB will be back in stock soon!

Cheers

(P.s, I got there with the dual truss rods in the end!)

It's a simple 2 bands EQ, with center frequencies well chosen and just the right amount of boost.

Compared to a Uni-Pre, it's easier to use and you get the sound you're after instantly.

I also find it more transparent than other East products, which, to me, is a great advantage.

You can add the Mid Sweep too if you need a 3 bands EQ...

PS: Good to read that the dual rods issue is now a thing of the past.

I have a BTB sitting here doing nothing along with the mid-range stack. I could be persuaded to part with them as a set.

If you still had the midrange module and want to sell it, I damaged the one in my MMSR so I'd be very happy to buy it from you :)
