Just a quickie.Should the 9v pp9 expire quickly if the unit is left connected to the bass and the amp but not switched on.I ask because I put a new battery in my chorus pedal 3 days ago and now find its depleted. The pedal was,as I say, connected but not switched on.(least I dont think it was😕)

This is a rough approximation.

A 9 V battery contains around 600 mAh, depending on the discharge rate.

A chorus pedal consumes maybe up to 50 mA.

Maths: 600 mAh / 50 mA = 12 h

Any time the pedal is connected, it consumes more or less energy. You can do a simple calculation, how many batteries a simple One Spot or similar unit costs.

Yes, if you’re using a 9v battery to power the pedal, and you leave it connected (i.e. input jack plugged in) then it will probably drain 9 out of 10 pedals left like that.

Easiest thing to do is just ‘unhitch’ the jack after playing - just pull the input jack out of the pedal an inch or so (once the amp is off) and you’ll break any connection drawing power in the pedal.

This.  It's annoying but very common.
