Kiwi
How about the mods manage by exception on that one?
Toasted
How about the mods manage by exception on that one?
It'd help if there was a hard and fast rule so everyone knew where they stood - no? Or maybe, you could publish a list of forums that we're allowed to bitch about? That would clear it up too.
Kiwi
Could you please PM me with a link? I haven't seen them yet. My concern is what's to stop us being faced with potentially creating a set of rules for every negative situation? If there are isolated individuals who can't use common sense and respect, why should they make life more restrictive for everyone else? If particular individuals want to test the limits then that will force me to make guidelines for everyone like I did for Bassworld. Explicit guidelines are the most efficient way I can pin the unacceptable behaviour of individuals down in a way that is difficult for them to counter. But I'd rather those people weren't on the forum so other people are free to use common sense and respect instead. That way it keeps things relatively free for the community and an atmosphere of trust is generated in the long run.
slaphappygarry
There have been some minor flare ups in the past but they are generally carefully watched and, more often than not, closed down. G
loudandclear
I dont think anyone would argue that things are watched and I think on the whole the mods do a good job in my opinion at this stage of the 'new' forum it wouldn't do any harm to explicitly state that negative comments are not really constructive in the long run and this hopefully helps shape the discussions that do take place in a positive way
BOD2
I can see both points of view. Firstly it helps to know what sort of things shouldn't be posted. But secondly we don't want a whole list of "rules which must be obeyed at all times". Perhaps a few "guidelines" rather than rules might be helpful. Along the lines of "please don't do this ....... or the mods may have to step in" ?
