Nut question !!!

Does anybody here owns, seen somewhere, heard about bass with a nut made from dinosour bone ?

Isn't dinosaur "bone" in fact fossilised, ie stone?

What with it being extinct, it is not an endangered species, so can be traded (unlike elephant ivory).

It would be, yes.

 

I think ivory from Mammuts might be an option though, even if they have nothing to do with dinosaurs.

Whatever the nut material.. as long as the nut slots are right... it only sounds different on open strings...

In the 80s there was a "thing" for brass nuts..

As @PaulThePlug says, it's only on open notes it might have any effect anyway, on fretted notes irrelevant.

I used to have a bass with a unicorn horn nut. I swapped it for some magic beans though but they only thing they did was give me terrible rainbow coloured wind.
