Waddo Soqable
Isn't dinosaur "bone" in fact fossilised, ie stone?
bass_dinger
Perhaps you are thinking of mammoth tusk? What with it being extinct, it is not an endangered species, so can be traded (unlike elephant ivory). I think ivory from Mammuts might be an option though, even if they have nothing to do with dinosaurs. 2 minutes ago, bass_dinger said: Perhaps you are thinking of mammoth tusk? PaulThePlug
Whatever the nut material.. as long as the nut slots are right... it only sounds different on open strings...
TheGreek
As soon as I started reading this I was thinking "Mammoth" - enhanced performance may be the Emperors Clothes though.
Waddo Soqable
In the 80s there was a "thing" for brass nuts.. As @PaulThePlug says, it's only on open notes it might have any effect anyway, on fretted notes irrelevant.
Old Horse Murphy
I used to have a bass with a unicorn horn nut. I swapped it for some magic beans though but they only thing they did was give me terrible rainbow coloured wind.
