Lozz196 Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Michael Poulsen of Volbeat has a pretty impressive vocal ability. Quote

xgsjx Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 (edited) This chap has some vocal range. what most would sing in falsetto, he sings in chest! Edited May 9, 2023 by xgsjx Quote
Paul S Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Paul Rodgers. Not that many years ago I saw him at a relatively small theatre (Palace Theatre in Westcliff, for those that know it) and he stood at the back of the stage away from any mics and could still be heard quite plainly. Chaka Khan (Chaka Khan) also - really powerful voice. 2 Quote
SpondonBassed Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Rob Strong. Singing bassist. I used to see him perform in the Harcourt Hotel basement in Dublin in the eighties. Quote

diskwave Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 (edited) Sure some singers can generate lot of noise...shout if you will, Bon Jovi, Axel Rose Janis Joplin etc etc but I'm drawn to singers who have expansion...they open their mouths and the sound seems to fall out effortlessly. Blow Monkeys Dr Robert is one that comes to mind....not a huge range but a huge expansive tone. Paul Rogers too tho less so, and dont forget Stevie Wonder ...massive effortless range. Just some thoughts. Edited May 9, 2023 by greavesbass Quote
Waddo Soqable Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Jimmy Somerville.. He always reminded me of the Baroque male soprano and counter-tenors, I bet he'd be good at that kind of repertoire. Not heard of him for ages... 1 Quote
fleabag Posted May 9, 2023 Author Posted May 9, 2023 4 years ago live in Berlin. Still a brilliant vocalist. He's lost nothing at all. 1 Quote
tauzero Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Roger Daltrey could still belt it out pretty well a few years back (haven't seen him recently), although he's dropped into a lower register now. Opera singers, of course, are the pinnacle of vocal accomplishment. Who can forget that most magnificent of them all? 1 Quote

'Never knew he sang?', thought I to myself. 😄 Quote
BreadBin Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Unlikely that anyone on here knows him but my old mate Mark Russell was known amongst local PA system circles as Leather Lungs -chiefly due to his ability to activate every single clip light if using mic levels suitable for a regular human! Quote
Mudpup Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Two for the price of one maybe? Lzzy Hale should be on the list and Myles Kennedy is pretty effortless live with an impressive range Quote
