Rayman Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Just a quick one…. Anyone had flats on a Thunderbird? I love flats, and have them on most of my basses, but from memory, the last time I had a Thunderbird, it was pretty middy/muddy sounding, and probably needed some rounds to brighten it up a bit. I‘ve dropped a swanky new loom in there, which hopefully will make things better….. but, I’m just if anyone else has tried flats? Quote
TheGreek Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 I don't think flats should be restricted to certain basses. If you want flats on your bass, do it. 3 Quote
meterman Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 A friend of mine has LaBella flats on his Thunderbird reissue and it sounds fantastic. One of the hugest sounding basses I’ve ever heard. Booooooommmm for days 👍 2 Quote
SurroundedByManatees Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 I played my Epiphone Thunderbird 60s model with GHS flats, and that sounded just great. 1 Quote
P-Belly Evans Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 (edited) 2013 Thunderbird - flats (only got Olympus or Olympia? long scale at the mo - Tl medium scale on my mustang), front pickup full, back pickup two thirds, a tickle of high mids and treble on the amp. Proper good tone. Nice and woody. I bloody love it. Quite similar to Maccas Rick tone here to be honest. Edited May 8, 2023 by P-Belly Evans 1 Quote
