TheGreek Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Seen 'em for less, seen 'em for more... I'm sure that someone could make a really nice bass out of one of these, whatever name was on the headstock. Quote
tauzero Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Looking at the photo of the back of the headstock, the neck laminates appear to be splitting apart. I think £100 is overselling it somewhat although it would probably be a decent fixer-upper. Quote
Bigguy2017 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Swamp Ash? Made from ash and stored in a swamp... 😉 Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Even Ray Charles wouldn't have mistaken that for a Fender 2 Quote
rwillett Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 But what was it? I can’t work it out and would love to know. However I don’t claim a vast knowledge of bass guitars. I did think an old Westone but couldn’t find any that had the knobs like this. Also the headstock and truss rod cover are different somebody must recognise it surely? rob Quote

rwillett Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Looks a nice guitar. Never seen one one but do recall the brand now. 1 Quote

Also the headstock and truss rod cover are different somebody must recognise it surely? rob It's a Cort, made in Korea & from 1980-ish. Sold branded as Kay in the UK, and a million or so other brands worldwide. Cort made dozens of different guitars & basses based on the same through neck/triple dot brass inlay template, from little travel guitars to double-necks. They're generally nice quality & were an inexpensive alternative to the through-neck Aria SBs, Ibanez Musicians etc of the era. That said, this one's a mess, looks badly neglected and £99 is wildly optimistic for a start bid. This is one I had a few years back. £50 BIN & it scrubbed up nice. 1 Quote
rwillett Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 I like the look of them. This would match my Westone Thunder six string. However, I agree that £99 is far far too much. Quote
TheGreek Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 I've seen them marketed under several names - none of which spring to mind though. Quote
tauzero Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Now deFendered - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275847466773. And somebody's bid at £99. Quote
sprocketflup Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 I spent parts of today cutting away rotten fascia boards that looked in better nick than the wood on that Quote

Don't like the neck/headstock repair much. Could becone a headless project. Fancy letting a through neck of that quality get in that state. Bstewards Quote
rwillett Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Wow.... Hold on, I've got a bridge for sale somewhere Quote

Nothing to do with Matsumoku. Guitar version: 1 2 Quote
