Some bands have bassists pretty synonymous with a specific bass, but what would you all say U2s Adam Clayton is most recognised with? I really dont know on this one.

Off the top of my head I'd have said P bass but then I remember seeing them live and he was using a J bass... then memory kicked in and my earliest recollection might have been with a Ric.  

 

These days it appears that it's whatever he can get for free!

He had the Warwick Reverso but he also had that weird V... which possibly lessened his weirdness.  :)    

 

He also used the Jack Cassidy bass and iirc back in the day the Ibanez Musician as per Sting.

Strewth, did he do a Devo tribute on his days off?

I had a bass that used to belong to AC. For me that was no big deal. It was a real players bass, a 1965 jazz. I sold it on several years after purchasing it, to a player who works with a major act and he confirmed, that indeed it was once belonged to AC.

.... You had Aleister Crowley's bass?.. Was it any good for ( black ) metal?

if its the one im thinking of it looked just like a cassidy but it was a gibson.
