Old Man Riva Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 If you’re a fan of Rob Mullarkey, Richard Spaven, J Dilla, D’Angelo, stretching time, different time signatures, or simply want to watch a fabulous rhythm section right on top of their game explain how they go about things, then this is well worth a watch… 7 1 Quote
musicbassman Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 Rob Mullarkey, my No 1 favourite player! 🙂 What an excellent, informative (and lengthy) video, well worth an hour of any BCers time. 1 Quote
Old Man Riva Posted May 28, 2023 Author Posted May 28, 2023 Great, isn’t it! There are so many highlights, but at the moment I’m really digging the bit at 17mins 50secs where Rob Mullarkey shows some truly wonderful use of the Digitech Whammy pedal. He’s such an innovative player. Also think that the unsung hero of the piece is Ian Allison, whose excellent questions really draw out the best responses/playing from the players… 2 Quote
E sharp Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 Rob is great- I love his playing. Came from good stock too. Also echo what’s been said about- so inventive with his playing 1 Quote
musicbassman Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Any excuse for showing a bit of Rob Mullarkey. Here, he's playing his interpretation of Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' with the wonderful Natalie Williams on vocals. 3 1 Quote
EMG456 Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 That whole Natalie Williams album (Kaleidoscope) which was produced by RM is a masterclass in bass, musicality and production not to mention singing lol! Cant recommend it highly enough. 2 Quote
