Fender Tidepool - what colour is it really? (see comparison pics)

I'm being tempted by a Tidepool precision, but what colour is it really? All of the pics below are listed as being Tidepool and I've seen many other pics in varying shades of blue/green/turquoise. Which one is closest to what it looks like in real life? Or none of these?!

Fender finishes are often all over the place when it comes to certain colors, and sometimes this applies to G&L, too.

For instance, Sonic Blue can be anywhere from as vivid as Daphne Blue to a blue so light it's nearly white.

Other than that, the two in the middle are good representations of Tidepool Blue.

(Do you have to have blue and does it have to be a Fender Player P bass?)

Neither of the above. It was just that when I started looking more closely at tidepool in photos the colour was all over the place and I wondered what colour it really is!

One thing you should realize in these four representations is that the exposures are all over the place. Look at the pickguards. They should all definitely match as well, but they don’t. So, what you’re seeing isn’t as much variance in finish as it is poor processing of the images.

I’d say the closest is the first one - I’ve got an LPB and that is very much like the top right, @Happypants has Tidepool and think he’d concur!

I'm colour blind, what do I know!?

Here's four pictures taken on my iPhone of my Tidepool all in the same room on the same day, it's quite a tricky colour to photograph and it changes depending on lighting. I'd say the closest to real life are the first two:

Same here... I think thats why i don't 'get' tort... it just looks messy to me.

The difference between 1,2 and 3,4 is almost like flip flop paint.

My P is Black... simple.

The one with the scratchplate off looks pretty accurate to me (at least on my screen). Here's another one in daylight.

Yes, I bought what I thought was a white Stratocaster (looked white in the shop). Then got it home and it was Sonic Blue. 😂

I also have one, and I agree this is a good photo. Its really difficult to get it accurate!

I'm possibly selling mine, but if I don't I'm definitely going for a black three-ply scratch plate like @Happypants. Looks amazing.

Aye, I think the black really suits it. I also bought a mint guard but fancied the black more to start with. Here’s a quick and dirty mock up:

I have a MIM Tidepool Jazz.  I suppose it's inbetween turquoise and blue.  Very slightly greenish blue.  Not an easy colour to match with a pick guard, at least the usual colours pick guards come in.  I've kept the white one it came with, mainly because I couldn't decide on a better colour.

I think black ones look good if it has a maple fretboard as the black ties in with the fret markers, otherwise tort looks great so long as it's a good tort!
