Thanks. I´ll take a look after the weekend - got a gig on Sat so will manage as it it until after that then look into fixing it.

Any suggestions where I can get the replacement pot? I live in Spaion but have a relative coming over from the UK quite soon.

Cheers

Gary

AllParts is a Uk company that specialises in guitar hardware and components:   https://www.allparts.uk.com/

Although they are US-based StewMac will mail parts to different countries:  https://www.stewmac.com

You will need to find out EXACTLY what you want however- 250k pot or 500k pot, if its volume it will be 'log' rather than linear, and since it looks like its a dual pot you will need someone with decent soldering skills to remove the old and put in new.

Good luck!

I'd be amazed if Sire didn't have any spare parts. If they do not for some awkward reason, Mouser et al. may have something reasonable in their selection. If the pot is very exotic, you may put one together from two units.

Wiring the pot to the PCBA is an option, if it doesn't fit exactly to old holes.

Looked at a Sire P7 preamp on Reverb.

Pots are similar to Alpha 9mm.

Thankfully neither Allparts nor Stewmac stock them, if they did the swines would want €16 instead of €4 like everywhere else 😁

Check the value need on your preamp then try

Thanks for all the replies. I bought the bass grom Thomann and they saidxit might be covered under warranty! I doubt it asit was my fault and I bought it about 3 years ago. They did say they will get the part for me though so fingers crossed.

  • 2 weeks later...

So Thomann sent me replacment volume knob and PCBs for free! See photo. Apparently covered under warranty.

I just need to pluck up the courage to lift the scratch plate and fit the new PCBs in place - hopefully not too difficult a job.

Thanks everyone (especially Thomann) who replied to my plea for help.

Cheers

Gary

I was wondering about changing the black plastic knobs for metal ones. Any advice on this and where I might get them to fit a Sire P7?
