Crusoe Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Many years ago, I bumped into an old school friend who played bass. When he found out that I also played, he insisted on lending me a "Learn to Play Slap Bass" book, despite me not expressing any interest in playing slap. Shortly after that, I ended up moving and lost contact with him. I still have the book and think I only ever tried to play slap once. Quote

YouMa Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I can't help thinking that a lot of the anti slap brigade are people who can't do it. 2 4 Quote

toneknob Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 If only there was some kind of online academy where there were resources for learning stuff like this, they should send out emails relentlessly about the subject 1 3 Quote

I find slap a bit like jazz - it takes a lot of skill to do it properly and while I'm impressed with the dedication and persistence it takes to learn the skills, the end result doesn't float my boat. 6 Quote

LeftBass2022 Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 I had no idea that there is an ‘Anti-Slap’ movement. Until now. Is it not cool? Why is it bad? 1 Quote
neepheid Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 I'm not anti-slap AND I can't do it. Do I win a prize? 2 3 Quote

As for slap, I can't play it because I've never tried to learn, and wouldn't want to. 1 Quote

tauzero Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 I have no use for it but I would like to be able to do it. Not so much that I could be bothered to learn how to, mind. Probably less painful than uppercutting it. Quote
