Wilton Felder

Trumpet player with The Crusaders played the classic Jackson 5 I want you back bass part

That is one of the loveliest basslines in Motown. Technically got a lot going on, but so melodic and catchy it's easy to miss what a tour-de-force it is of playing. Amazing stuff.

It’s one of my favourites

Agree, I saw a live concert of theirs on BBC4 last week, I’d forgotten how good the bass lines on their material are.

Apparently he learnt piano for a major film and is an accomplished guitar player and cello player as well. Some talent!

I’d never seen them live and he’s not pictured with a bass in the videos I’d seen.

Actually pretty surprised that many here seem to think it's a surprise that a guitar player plays bass now and then. Really, is it surprising that Hendrix or Page played bass?

Now, this was a surprise to me a few years back. Adele plays bass!

Blimey! 2 for 1 for some folk on here - Adele and an acoustic bass guitar 😂

Quite bodyshaming that.

Apologies... a quip - bassed(!) on the P Bass Baseball Bat Neck, 42mm v's sleeker 38mm Jazz neck, with a nod to the pounds lost, and acknowledgment of their mental health struggles... dark humour and no malice meant.

Flavor Flav of Public Enemy. Not the most proficient bassist but he's pretty decent on drums, which reinforces my view that every musician harbours a secret desire to really be a drummer.

Denny Doherty from the Mamas and Papas. Although I believe most of their hits feature either Joe Osborn or Carol Kaye on bass.

And the drummer looks like Hal Blaine.

No suggestion she actually played but any excuse to post a picture of the goddess Kate Bush.

Horrible; god-awful seventies trash.

Kate, on the other hand, is lovely.
