steantval Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 That’s a coincidence, I was learning to play Billy Jean earlier in the week just for a bit of fun. This guy explains it really well and definitely hit on about a synth playing the added octave. I like the version two starting on the second fret of the E string, that’s the version I learnt, it’s a pig of a song due to the repetitive nature of it, you cannot afford to fall out of time, otherwise it falls apart. 4 Quote
Cairobill Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Tony Marinelli is just fantastic and played such a key role in the sound of Thriller. Probably the best tutorials on sound design on YT in my opinion... Quote
King Tut Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 We cover this in a band I often dep with. Drummer always plays it way too fast. Bloody nightmare! 1 Quote

Hellzero Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 That said Ernest Tibbs is a hell of a player, I saw him live a few times with Protocol, and when Simon Phillips starts to become tricky, he closes his eyes and starts counting, you can see it on his face... Quote
nilorius Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 That is why the album was called - Thriller. Quote
