Just heard the sad news that Adrian Dawson (formerly guitarist with The Doris Kent Band and recently playing with Tony Martin) died last night,

my condolences and thoughts to his family and close friends xx

And "The Alliance", which had Tony Martin as singer until Black Sabbath stole him.

I live in the same village as Ady and knew him pretty well, having played in a local band (Get One In) with him (and his drummer brother). The best rock guitarist I've ever had the pleasue to play with, and with none of the ego. An all round lovely man who will be missed terribly.

Even though we knew it was coming I am gutted, as will be most of the village and any one who knew him.

The Alliance had been planning to record and release some of their previously unreleased material, see photo below.

Adrian is far right in this photo, sporting his typical grin.

Indeed he was, …very true, I first saw him and Nigel play in Daventry workers with Doris Kent and the following day they came to my band’s rehearsal and joined in with us, lovely guys all of them,

he’ll be sadly missed for sure.

Hi there - saw this and it was a really sad moment.

I played bass in Doris Kent and a few bands with Adrian and Nigel.

lovely fellas both - Adrian was a fabulous guitarist - such a great feel, tone and style.
Nigel equally a very underrated drummer. As solid a drummer as you could wish to play alongside.

We were of an age, three days apart for birthdays!

i remember sitting in the knackered hired van driving to gigs with Stan their dad driving

we were in a rock band ‘Oasis’ … yes really, hoping to hit the heights

rehearsed and gigged in the midlands but got overtaken by punk, Ska, two tone and the New Romantics

here’s a link to a video of Adrian starring as we played at the Battle of the Bands in Coventry

RIP Adrian - you were a bloody good bloke -  Steve

Thanks for posting this. I had the honour of playing with Ade & Nigel in a local band ("Get One In" and later "Reprobates). I knew he'd been in a band called Oasis, but never seen or heard any of it until now. (Heard plenty of "The Alliance" though).

Brilliant guitarist with no ego problems. Lovely man. Still miss him. RIP Ade.

I'm not sure if Sue (his wife) is aware of this video, or that it is availble online, so I will send her (and Nigel) the link.
