Guest
I was never totally enamoured with the stock P pickup in this bass, so my guitarist swapped it out recently for a Fender Vintage 63 pickup. What an improvement! I never use the bridge pickup on the bass so didn’t bother getting that changed. The Fender pickup does reinforce exactly what I felt about the Yamaha pickup - it was just ok, quite bland and lacking low end clarity. I’d tried moving the pickup height but never achieved what I wanted. So just FYI - if like me you love playing the BB734A but you’re unsure about the tone, consider a P pickup swap. javi_bassist
I replaced both pickups with Delano. It is an awesome bass.

The neck and the overall balance of the bass make it incredibly playable. I’ve tried other basses but keep coming back to the 734A. Now I’ve got the right pickup perhaps I’ll be sticking with it more.
