Bonin-in-the boneyard
This looks nice Very tempting Edited July 27, 2023 by Bonin-in-the boneyard
Lfalex v1.1
That does look nice. Something about how the double- octave neck fills the space that a 20 fret neck leaves. Probably just because it makes the body look downsized. Liking the way they've done the lower cutaway, too.
BassApprentice
I can't seem to get on with a standard Jazz shape - not sure if these are slightly more compact or just the extra access but intrigued either way
Killerfridge
I saw a couple of these in Andertons on Wednesday - they look really good in the flesh; they remind me of the old Fender USA Deluxe basses
basexperience
I've got a V7 Mk 2 in swamp ash / maple - these look really nice!
BassApprentice
Sire confirmed the body is the same size. Still cool to see them offering more options though!
Bonin-in-the boneyard
Hopefully there will be some reviews Soon interested in the balance I would prefer the preamp aswell
Killerfridge
If I'd known they were new I would have picked one up!
Al Krow
Wonder if they will start offering 24 frets on the rest of their range? A PJ5 24 fret with their semi para EQ would be very tempting!
Dazed
The extra fret access improves the look in my eyes.

I get why Fender dropped downsized bodies after the old 90s Deluxe series (coz most folks just want vanilla P or J if it’s got a Fender logo) but they were sweet. I traded this one, because I’m a d*** - let’s compare!
moley6knipe
I’m just going to hijack so I can kick myself in public. Idiot. LOOK at it. And the sound!! Suhr pups and preamp.
Rexel Matador
I can't unsee the mismatched horns. One round and one pointy.
horrorshowbass
I hear ya in the horns. Can't see why 20 is the standard for frets. Good to see more 24 fretters. 21 at least for the E octave symmetry.
Duroc17
Just ordered the 4 string 24 fret - coming tomorrow- I prefer standard shape but be nice to have some high up fret options I’ll never use 🤣 that neck looks mint I had Fender 74 reissue from 2002 I played till 2017 but at nearly 11lbs was bit much - this Sire reminds me of that bass but with extra frets and nearly 1/3 of price
Silverberry
Am I the only one that believes that the new 24 fret design is ugly? 🤔

velvetkevorkian
Yeah, to me it seems like they need to slim the body down a bit to match the, er, more cut-away cut-away

I so much love Sires that I can't see anything else at the moment. Even the U5 that is not my cup of tea, feels to me as "understandable". But the new 24 fret design looks like anomaly
basexperience
I really like it - I've got a V7 Mk2 ash / maple blonde, which I adore - amazing bass. This new 24 fret model looks like a Mayones Jabba - which I also really like, but you can bet it won't be mayones prices 🙂 https://thebassgallery.com/products/mayones-jabba-4-pj Edited October 21, 2023 by basexperience

Tbh if I needed a passive Jazz and a deal came up for one I’d still take it - if you could get a clear pickguard for it that make take some of the edge off it, the mismatched curve/spike of the 2 horns from the cutaways still irk me but it’ll no doubt play well. One thing I’ve found with all my Sire’s is that the tone control is weak, it’s basically the same sound all the way to 20% and then it suddenly changes to extreme treble roll off - works more like a switch than sweeping tone control. I know a new capacitor fixes it, but all my Sire’s (I’ve owned 4-5, only have 1 currently) have been active - is it the same on the passive instruments like the P5 & V5 or do they use different capacitors for these? biro
I ordered one by mistake, meaning that I regretted ordering one and tried to cancel. Alas, I was too late, so I guess I may as well try it out. Will update soon.
Paddy777
You should have 14 days to send it back if you ordered it online, you might have to foot the bill to post it though - may as well play it for a day before you do tho and see what it’s like
biro
Yeah, to be honest I am quite curious. A 24 jazz bass is essentially my idea of a perfect bass, so it might be a blessing in disguise!
