Meisner died of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease:

He got a good sound with a Hagstrum bass. They were a new band with Witchie Woman as their recent hit.

Saw them early on with Linda R and Pure Prairie League. Randy was from my part of the country in Western Nebraska.

Losing heroes from your youth really brings home mortality and that time waits for no man (or a woman if you are one - to quote Colin Hay). He provided great enjoyment to many during his time here, and that's a fine legacy in my book. Take it easy - you've gone far beyond the pain.
