uk_lefty Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Hi everyone. One of my amps has a tweeter that hisses. I know it's only the tweeter because when I turn off the tweeter there is no hissing. It's an older amp with dials that crackle a little. Does this sound like an easy fix? I don't want to spend a lot on it but I would like to get it sorted so there's no defects. Quote
fretmeister Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 When I mentioned a similar issue Bill told me that tweeters don't hiss, amps hiss. @Bill Fitzmaurice 2 Quote

Downunderwonder Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 While we're at it steam rollers don't roll steam either. But yeah. No easy fix not involving fixing the amplifier. 2 Quote
Bill Fitzmaurice Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Speakers reproduce the signal that's sent to them by the amp. In this case the amp is sending hiss. You don't hear it through the woofer because woofers don't respond to high frequencies. 4 Quote
