philbillbass Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Does anyone have any opinions on them? Looking to try some flats and these seem like a cheap option. I could only find one comment on them when i had a look around on here so i'm just looking for any more opinions. thanks Phil Quote
steve-soar Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Very nice strings. I've got them on my Precision, they have a bit more tension but they have a lovely feel and the tone is pretty spot on for me. Quote
philbillbass Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Do you reckon i should try the halfwound before i go all the way to flats. As i do tend to do a bit of slapping in the band i am in so would halfwounds be a good inbetween? Quote
Mr.T Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I have been using 'Rounds' for many years and recently experimented with 'Flats'... and found them to be not for me. I then tried a set of Status 'Grounds' and they definately sit between Rounds and Flats... and have enough ring to be slappable. They are good quality strings (They are Status!), but again not for me, so I have gone back to Rounds. I only played with the Grounds for a few minutes at home and I'll be selling them. Quote
wulf Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I have a set on my fretless Washburn XB-600 (the choice of six string sets of flats is pretty limited and Status were the ones who gave the best range of options). They do the job although, to be honest, I find them quite stiff. For a cheap option, they are great but if you don't get on with them it doesn't necessarily mean that other flats won't work better for your needs. Wulf Quote
philbillbass Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Yeah i may try the halfwounds. Its just sometimes i feel i dont get enough "bass" from my bass! I'm on DR high beams at the moment so they may have something to do with it. Quote
Mr.T Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Hmmmm... I didn't notice any more Bass when I tried the Status Grounds, just less Treble. Quote
philbillbass Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 ok, wel i'm going to think about it but i may go all out and get the flats but maybe TI's as they seem to be the most highly regarded. I do have another bass i can borrow if i need the roundwound sound for a gig, but i'm deffinately going to think on it for a bit! thanks for everyone's input phil Quote
steve-soar Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Bloody hell, I didn't even look at who was posting, alright Phil, is the cab still ok? Steve. Quote

d-basser Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Just strung up my P/J with these, have to say yummy. First go a flats and they are full of thumpity goodness. Could maybe do with them being a tad brighter but overall feel and tension is great. Quick delivery too. Quote
