I'm very pleased to announce that this year (so far!) our first special guest, who after a brief stint as a graphic designer, decided to pursue a career in music which took off when he was asked to join (the then massive in Australia) Icehouse for a world tour at the tender age of 19. In 1983 he supported David Bowie on his legendary ‘Serious Moonlight’ tour.

 

This led to him being spotted and used by the likes of Robert Palmer, Bryan Ferry, Womack & Womack, and even The Smiths amongst others. He was thrust into the global premier league of bassists when David Gilmour asked him to play for Pink Floyd.

Someone asked me about whether coming to the Bass Bash means they’ll get stung by the ULEZ charge. I live locally to the High School and reassured them that we are well outside the current ULEZ zone and the proposed expansion. So no worries there!

I saw him at doing stand-up a Q&A at one of the guitar shows a few years back.  He is a fantastic storyteller and just hilarious with it.  It's kind of amazing; I had a gig with Eddie Roxy that day (which got bumped), which was quickly replaced with dinner and a box at The Albert Hall for Messiah from Scratch.  Sunday is clearly the new Friday, or something.

I was thinking about buying it myself but have only recently ventured into 6erland. My Spector 6er is still being looked at with the aim of having a new preamp fitted.

A load of bass players bring a selection of kit, set up in a couple of rooms, chat and discuss, try out other folk's kit, sit down for a presentation or two from a pro, eat cake, drink tea, maybe buy something from the table-top sale, make friends.
