Lozz196 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Has a more Chinese Democracy vibe to me than their earlier material, that could be due to the vocals. I’ll give it a proper listen later on but first go on the iPhone I like it. Quote
Doctor J Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Dreadful. Utterly dreadful, but at least they can tour for another couple of years before anyone notices. Quote
Rich Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 I'd like to hear a version of it sung by someone else. It could probably be half decent. 3 minutes ago, Doctor J said: at least they can tour for another couple of years before anyone notices. Yay, a whole new bunch of gigs that they can be 2 hours late for. Quote
Woodinblack Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 I watched the video and thought that as in instructional video on 'how to point at things' it worked well. as you said, with a decent singer it might be a passable song Quote
ahpook Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Crikey. The verse sounds like a bad David Bowie impersonator fronting a britpop band. Or possibly just Blur on a bad day Quote
Paolo85 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Not bad. Much better than I was expecting and that includes Axl's voice. If somebody had told me that was an obscure track from the Use Your Illusion sessions I would have believed them. Quote
Barking Spiders Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 G n R are one of those bands whose success and popularity has always puzzled me. Appetite sure is vastly overrated IMO, but Perhaps isn't half bad, not terrific but it's ok. It doesn't have me diving for the off button and it's certainly better than most rock songs I've heard from the last 10 years . Axl sings better here than on Sweet Child of Mine or Mr Brownstone. SubsonicSimpleton Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 I can't watch present day GnR without seeing this 1 Quote
MichaelDean Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 I wonder what material they rejected if they thought that was the one to release... Quote

I'm not overly familiar with that album of theirs, so I can't really say, but a lot of other people have the same opinion of the vibe of the song as you. After watching the video earlier, I just remember thinking that Duff was by far the one having the most fun. Mark Quote
Elfrasho Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 (edited) I'm not a GNR fan boy but like the early stuff, and I actually quite like Chinese Democracy. This sounds very much like the dregs of their musical ideas. Plus. that's not how Axl sounds now. That's just a complete fabrication. Edited August 18, 2023 by Elfrasho Quote
Jackroadkill Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Because I love G'n'R so much, I'm trying to avoid hearing this song. 1 1 Quote
bassbiscuits Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 Loved Appetite, and I really like Duff’s bass playing. Nothing much special about this song tho. 1 Quote
madshadows Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 I like it and a pretty cool video for it, sounds like "Chinese Democracy" era Guns to me John 😎 Quote
UK Ken Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 Good to hear some new GNR but wish the vocals were better. Duff and Slash still sound awesome though ! Quote
shoulderpet Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Its an ok song but I have to admit that I am a little dissapointed by Duff's tone in this song, for me its not Guns n Roses without the signature heavily chorused, trebly bass tone and this sounds a lot more conventional Quote
gjones Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 It all seemed to be all on one level, with uninspiring chords and no hooks. When there's no financial incentive to write decent new music why bother? They make their money selling gig tickets these days and people only want to hear the old stuff. Quote
Nothingman Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 The worlds most dangerous band seem to have become the worlds most dreary band. Shame. I used to them (se what I did there) as a kid. it’s all subjective though. Live n let live Quote
thodrik Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 I have heard many worse songs recorded by the band. They have gotten on well enough to actually record something so good for them. Quote
