PaulThePlug Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) My Son is having another look at Ableton Live Lite... How do you get ya bass in to the computer? What do you use? Anyone with a Budget option no longer used due to upgrade. He is just starting out on the Ableton/Computer Capture. He has an Alesis Recital, and Q49?, Akai Drum Pad thing along with Bass and G's... fretmeister Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Can't go wrong with a Focusrite Scarlett or an Audient ID4Mk2 The 4th Gen Scarlett's have just been announced so I'm sure there will be a blow out of the 3rd Gen stuff. There are different models with different numbers of inputs and so on, so he can pick what he needs. The Audient is a great choice too, and can be bus powered from a USB-C ipad too. Quote
BigRedX Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I've owned a lot of very expensive audio interfaces over the past 25 years, but these days for bass and guitar I use the USB output of my Line6 Helix. This lets me record the bass with and without the effects applied simultaneously, so if I not 100% sure about the sounds I want to use I can then run the direct recorded sound through the Helix Native plugin and tweak the parameters whilst listening to the playback. When I'm happy I can then download the edited patch back into the Helix to use when I play the song live. Quote
Bassybert Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) I use a Scarlett 4i4 into GarageBand, does a great job and doesn’t break the bank Edited September 1, 2023 by Bassybert Quote
PaulThePlug Posted September 1, 2023 Author Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) Seen a secondhand Line6 UX1 @ £15... more my kinda budget. Will that do-the-do with the Pod Farm Amp Sim Software. Presumably can use an FX board or Zoom etc, then plug in to the Audio Interface? EDIT: Picked it up - the Pod Farm stuff looks interesting... Bargain i think... How1 Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) M-Audio Solo is about 38 quid. It's kind of a plasticky cheap thing, but it'll do the job. Limited outputs though (RCA only). Edited September 1, 2023 by How1 Quote
