Band practice last night in Trowbridge. Or Trowvegas as it's known locally.

Same rig as I have been using at home without any issues. Same bass, cables, pedals - everything. Never had any issues with it

Plug in at the rehearsal room and it's buzzing like a chainsaw. Horrible.

Now the last time I gigged in Trowbridge I had exactly the same problem, but with a totally different rig. And the time before in a different venue with, yep, you guessed it, a different rig.

So, logically it must be the town itself to blame.

Anyone else know any towns to be avoided because of dirty electric?

Do you have isolated power supplies for each pedal through a separate power supply unit, or are they daisy-chained and just plugged straight into the mains?

(I was born there! Well - it's what my passport says - even though I was actually born in Bradford-upon-Avon.)

I've been back a few times and I'm not surprised the electricity is dirty...

Yeah all my power is clean, isolated, filtered etc etc

I swear it's the bloody town itself.

Faulty arc lights can cause interference for miles. We had a guy appear in the village one night with an aerial and some instrumentation looking for the source of some problems. Turned out it was a light on a farm 3 miles away!

Can’t help with the electrickery problem, but didn’t expect to see my poor old hometown take quite a kicking! I moved away 15 years ago, but I’m still fond of the old place!

Even if it is a bit of a dump

I don’t mind Trokyo and it’s not as bad as the jokes make it out to be.
I even have some friends who live there. I don’t like to admit that in certain company, and they have to come to mine if we get together…. But otherwise…😛

It's Trowvegas, what do you expect? The hemorrhoid infested hole of Wiltshire.

Surely in Swindon's the running though Trowbridge is grim.

I was most surprised to learn they have finally got electricity in Trowbridge!

They bought it from a bloke in a pub in Melksham who stole it from Bradford-On-Avon

Ofc if you want to hide electricity where no one will find it, stick it in Devizes...

(I have lived in Trowbridge, Corsham, Market Lavington and Larkhill)

I have worked in Trowbridge, Calne, Devizes and Melksham. I'd never want to live in any of them. I don't really like the people's socialist democratic republic of Frome much either

Melksham is in a league of its own, craziest place I've ever played in. Not quite up to the Finnish level of crazy (which can involve firearms and explosives) but it's definitely off the scale for weirdness.

Decades of breathing in rubber fumes from the Avon factory has had an effect on the locals.

There's a great little recording studio in part of one of the old Avon factories, they're really good at using the natural reverb of the old concrete building

Which rehearsal room do you use?

We rehearse there too, come to think of it my FX were dreadfully noisy a couple of times a while back. I assumed it was my cheap crappy 9v power plug.
