Faithless Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Hey, BC folks, It's been a while. I've spotted this locally for 300 bucks. Could someone identify what the heck is this, and if it got any worth? Thank you, Faithless Quote
Grahambythesea Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 It’s not a Gibson! Looks way over priced. Quote
Reggaebass Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Never seen anything like that before, could it be a Gibson neck on a different body Quote
neepheid Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 There is absolutely zero Gibson content in this bass. Quote
Cato Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 I don't think I've seen anything quite like that bridge/tailpiece arrangement. I reckon the whole bass is likely a home made job. 1 Quote
KK Jale Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 (edited) Looks basically like this one, with different paint and tailpiece and (home added?) fingerboard markers. Can't find a maker, but possibly Russian in origin. Edited September 18, 2023 by KK Jale 2 Quote

Faithless Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 Oh yeah, Cremonas are pretty common over here.. Thank you, guys, a wonderful bunch, as always! 1 Quote
BigRedX Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 For all of these types of instruments, Cheesy Guitars is an invaluable source of information. Here's the page for the Kermona "Gibson" Bass. 2 Quote
Baloney Balderdash Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 (edited) As others already said, this is not a Gibson, the model name though is actually Gibson, though this one slightly modded. Got to admit this particular one looks pretty amazing, but I am pretty sure plays and sounds horrible. Edited September 21, 2023 by Baloney Balderdash Quote

msb Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 I’ve never seen one , and from the sounds of this , that’s a good thing. 1 Quote
grenadillabama Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 They wrote "Gibson" on the head pretty well. Quote
NancyJohnson Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 That's actually a prototype Gene Simmons Model III. The Double Axe. Limited run, 150 I think, $12k. Apparently he played something similar for a few minutes at a Wicked Lester gig in 1971 and Gibson's thoughts were, as everyone is harping on about the lack of Grabber and Ripper reissues, they'd just go straight for the money grab, because 'Kiss fans are stupid, have deep pockets and will buy any old crap'. 2 Quote
msb Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 I once walked into a local pawnshop and there was an odd Gibson hanging over the cash register. The guitar looked Japanese , the logo was close , but not quite right. So I asked the owner what it was and he said. “A lesson , and it’s not for sale” 1 Quote
