PaulThePlug Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Know nothing about DB other than they are expensive and string prices are unearthly... This? Project @ £350 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/283016417495402/?ref=facebook_story_share Quote
JoeEvans Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 I think it's plywood, looking at the grain pattern on the back, and the neck is painted black over some paler wood so not ebony. I think £350 is a fair price considering that someone appears to have worked it over with a rubber mallet then left it in the garden for a few weeks. 2 Quote
Paddy Morris Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 It looks to have a set of natural gut strings on it (£100 right there, if they're in decent condition) and the wear pattern in the fingerboard suggests some pretty full-on psychobilly hammering. That finish looks like it had a lacquered coating applied that has been removed. I think you should arrange to meet up and play it first, but it might sound amazing, who knows? 1 Quote
Burns-bass Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 In most cases, a cheap double bass means an expensive trip to a luthier (f you can find one). Personally, I'd recommend buying one on here that's been cared for and set up properly. 3 Quote
