October Composition Challenge

It's straight into Autumn with the witching month and the horrors of Halloween!

After a great winning entry from @MoonBassAlpha for September he has offered us the following for your inspiration.

"This image is available by kind permission from the creator Tim M Gravestock, a graphic designer and excellent photographer.

Hope this is seasonally appropriate and gets the creative juices flowing"

Simple rules

✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline.

✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on

✖️ Bagpipes/panpipes .... well they are pretty scary so what the hell

✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you..

Deadline wise , we will go for Midnight on the 24th but I will probably be doing the voting thread when I get back home on the 25th

A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be lovely.

Have fun

Here is my contribution to the October 2023 Basschat Composition Challenge, illustrated with a picture chosen by MoonBassAlpha.
I took a wrong turning and left The Path. Clouds formed, and a chill wind whispered to me. She came closer...
Text to Speech for the most part, plus some 'suitable' samples, woven into this phonic tapestry. I used Grim Reaper, of course; what else..?
Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.

(I recommend listening through headphones, not too loud, in a darkened room, whilst looking at the picture...)

I dun one!

I felt that the rather spooky image deserved my rather jaunty cover of Spandau Ballet's classic. Get yer dancin' shoes on!

Apologies for the bad language - my Latin pronunciation is not up to scratch. Sounds using synths by Universal PolyMax, Massive and Usynth. Vocals and translations by me. All mixed in Doblys with Ozone 9.

Can you do a cover ?

No, it has to be an 'original' composition (but just how 'original' is a 12-bar blues, eh..?). An exception is made for December, where a 'cover' is mandatory..! Hope this helps. :rWNVV2D:

I've done a cover for quite a few months now!

Though I have changed the lyrics, the rhythm, the melody (or often completely discarded such a bourgeois notion), the tempo, and instrumentation.

Frinstance I've somewhat improved on Spandau's original this month, as I've got rid of all that funky nonsense and coherent lyrics in favour of much more meaningful ones, such as:

 unus septem est septem

avem in manu valet duos in rubo

duo septem quattuordecim

numerus bestiae sescentorum sexaginta sex

To be fair to our new colleague, it should be mentioned that Lenny (long-standing contributor to the monthly Challenge...) has stubbornly and repeatedly made light of any notion of 'rules', as evidenced by his contributions, where musicality comes a poor second (or maybe third, fourth and circle of fifths...) to inspiration, anarchy, fun, noise and... Well even more than that. The notion of 'covers' does not extend to these outbursts of angst, ire, temperament and talent; no legal repercussions are to be feared from them, apart from the medical costs for loss of hearing, and the replacement of window glass.
In short, no covers, except for December and whatever Lenny deems to call 'a cover'.
Hope this helps. :rWNVV2D:

here is my entry based on the picture chosen by last months winners, MoonBassAlpha.

I went for the obvious, well it was to me, these people need new windows!

the main riff was on my little 'Fleabass' through a waves Bass app that doubled up the guitar part, then various synths found on garageband stuck on top , vocals by yours truly, disguised with some formant shifting in Reaper,

Polished (  ) with a bit of OZone 8

lyrics if you like that sort of thing ....

Spoiler

I don’t want to cause a big sensation , I'd like to talk about fenestration

I don’t want to cause a big sensation , I'd like to talk about your quotation

Are your parents in , ive got something they love

A bay and 2 windows with a fanlight above

We’ll do a great deal cause we are  in the area

It’ll make you smile and a little less scarier

The quality is superb though the detail may seem vague ,

Don’t follow the fashion of the current

 grey plague

The devils in the detail but today I’m not so sure

The look in you’re eye says not welcome any more

So Sign here press hard , and things will move fast

The draft in your lounge is a thing of the past

You can turn down the stat on your overworking combi

And start to live the life of sophisticated zombie

just doing my job so don’t bite of my head

And I’m sure I’d rather be, somewhere else instead

I know that you’re thinking id be better off dead but

I’m just doing my job so don’t bite of my head

Bifolding doors would look lovely round the back

All sliding smoothly on a stainless steel track

if you were to  worry, about the cost perchance

it’ll be no trouble to sign you on finance

it will help to relieve your irrational fears

and you can pay it off for the next  200 years .

I’m just doing my job so don’t bite of my head

And I’m sure I’d rather be, somewhere else instead

I know that you’re thinking id be better off dead but

I’m just doing my job so don’t bite of my head
