Leeds Guitar Show - Vintage Gibson bass fest!

Attended the Leeds show today, and although a bit bass light ( like many of these shows ) there was a 

great display of vintage Gibsons on offer on one stand, including these ex-celeb examples.

Some luverly bases there (speaking as a vintage Gibson nut), but ouch those prices! 😮 - I’d be wanting some really solid provenance.  I wonder if he sold any?  🤔

Me too! Remember Glen Matlock having one of these in the late 70’s. Would make a nice companion

to my 59 Les Paul Junior too, but sadly I’m around £29,500 short. 😆

Speaking with the guy who owns them, he’s been collecting for years and is now starting to reduce

what he has. Didn’t seem overly concerned about sales TBH, so maybe that’s why he’s aiming on the

high side? Helluva collection though.

I have his details if anyone wants to contact him for a haggle!

If he really thinks that John Entwistle bass is worth a hundred grand, then surely it wouldn't be just on display so easily bashed?

It did seem a bit like that, but the owner was very watchful when anyone approached. Would like to 

know if he had any serious enquiries on them.

Pretty sure that guy has had the collection on Facebook marketplace for a while. He doesn't live too far from me but the prices are always really high. Shame because I'd love to try that EB6.

They’re putatively for sale, but more likely an old man’s folly. I had a bass that was played by Entwistle. Bought from Barry Matthew’s and had photo provenance. I never even bothered to mention it to the buyer, as I’d forgotten.
