Re-Release of my old band "VISITOR 2035".....From the 1970's jazz rock fusion era.

This CD is available in the U.K. via

https://propermusic.com/products/visitor2035-visitor2035?_pos=1&_psq=visitor&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Its the 1970's latter end of....I'm playing bass, answering ads in Melody Maker and making slow progress. An advert draws my attention and I eventually have a jam with the band down in deepest Sussex outside of Horsham.

Visitor 2035 go on to do a series of gigs at universities and some festivals. Whats most important is that we start rehearsals with some pretty hefty jamming which has served me well. We respond to a series of adverts from a German

record company who were advertising on train platform poster boards! We sign on the dotted lines and record an album down at Pebble Beach studios in Worthing. The record company have taken on a few UK bands,

I think 'A Flock Of Seagulls' was one. They falter on our release date for 9 months and slowly leave us behind. Its the dawn of punk and our Weather Report driven Chick Corea meets Brand X music is slowly disappearing from the mainstream.

Abandoned, we go our separate ways, keeping in touch now and then and for a couple of fun gigs.

2022....we get a call from Hannover based M.I.G. Music.de ...we have an old fan working there and he wants to re-release the album, now CD. Why not hah!

Its a fusion of rock jazz type driven instrumental music of which many of us were partial too at the time. Proper Music UK sell it as do M.I.G. We have world release, wow, didnt get that before...

NOW with a recent review from R&R latest magazine edition….and bass gets mentioned first!

I hope this short sound clip and picture link works:

Fantastic @mybass, my music story was similar to yours albeit without the happy ending (and to be honest without the talent also) :)

Gibson Bass and Fender Fretless, very specific !

I’ll have another pic to put up of a very recent review Beedster, it’s a doozy!

I used a Gibson Les Paul bass, converted to long scale by Richard Knight (RIP) down Weybridge area. The Fender ‘Precision’ was converted to fretless by Neville Whitehead a double bass repairer who lived around the corner from Wal basses, we used to pop in to Wal’s. The fingerboard was made from an ex double bass f’board.

Mr Stroud, I presume.  Sorry I am late to this thread.

I bought the original vinyl in the late seventies.  I loved it.  I am delighted to have the opportunity to buy the re-release on disc.  Do you know of any physical outlets that could sell it to me?  I don't do money on the 'net.

The hooky bit for me was the bass.  Thank you for that brother.

I’m flattered 😀. thankyou. The CD is re- released by M.I.G. a German company…

I've just emailed MIG to find out who they are using for distribution in the UK.
MIG Music is on Facebook….Visitor will be on those pages along with a short sound track video I made for them, I couldn’t copy it across from FB.
Good luck…it still sounds er, um, busy!

I'll wait for that then.  Thanks.

I don't do other social media platforms.  I am more of a loner, especially on the 'net.

MIG got back to me and they are investigating their UK distributor 'Proper Music' as they, like me, cant find it on the 'Proper' website page. MIG told me it is on Amazon which doesnt help you.....more to follow but I would have hoped you could order from a record store.

Yes.  I may try that if you don't get a satisfactory response from MIG.

Cheers.

Just do a tour of our front rooms, Pete, playing along - bet you’d make more money that way😂

I'm not going to the 'states until I've tried all the local record shops.

Heeheehee.  Regards to Bournemouth.  I spent many dirty weekends there when I still had 'nuff lead in me pencil.

Apparently the UK distributor has them in stock....'apparently'...if and when you are passing your record shop ask if they can order one....I'm told there are two sites for seeing available stock, the one we see and the one retailers see so maybe your store can make a n enquiry?

Not yet Peter, I haven't been into Derby lately.  When I go next I will see what HMV say.  Also, I'm waiting for next month's income minus Council Tax, Water Rates etc before I can do much else.

Don't worry.  If there is one to be had I will find it.

Update.

HMV aren't willing to deal with me in real life (by telephone).  Rough Trade in Nottingham is the next best option and they are going to let me know on Monday if they can hold it for me at their shop.

It's a bit more expensive but for the luxury of cutting out most of the digital feckwittery, it should be worthwhile.

I'm just today dealing with an email back from the German record company telling me that Proper Music are not distributing the CD anymore....nobody told the band....as usual! Please let me know if rough trade can get one from Proper Music in case they had some left.

Apologies from the band but not for Proper Records or MIG !

Will do.

Although Rough Trade's Nottingham shop lists it, we all know that it is an optimist who would take that at face value.  Fortunately, I am one but I will believe it when I see it spinning on my deck.

No need for apologies.  Much appreciated all the same.
