joeystrange
It seems to be a common opinion with musicians of an older generation that ‘everything that isn’t what I liked/played 50-70 years ago is rubbish.’ Hip hop has had far more impact on music in the last 40 years than the Stones have. Doctor J
Old musician shares honest personal opinion. Outrage ensues. Clicks = Cash Money.
Lozz196
Not everyone likes everything, with usually it being older people not liking newer forms of music, something that benefited Keef well in his early career with the Stones being the young tearaway rebels. I`m similar to him, I can`t stand hip hop or rap, pretty much anything falling under that umbrella aside from Walk This Way by Aerosmith/Run DMC which is just superb imo. But in my defence this isn`t a new thing, I`ve disliked it all the way through.
Barking Spiders
Richards has got more gobby as he's got older. He's also laid into many rock bands in particular Led Zep, Black Sabbath and Metallica. I'm well into 90s hip hop when it had a strong groove but most of the rap from 2000 onwards is dire, particularly mumble rap which is the pits . So he's right to an extent. chris_b
Yawn, the usual dog-whistle nonsense. . . . KR gave a personal opinion in an interview. Shock horror. . . . . As usual people are lining up to give him a kicking because he is old, famous, successful and has a view on something.
Delberthot
Thing is that if hip hop and rap were bad then they would have fizzled out. Just because some people don't like it doesn't mean that others feel the same. Personally, the thought of paying good money to have Eminem shout at me for 2 hours doesn't appeal to me Dreary doesn't appeal to me either so you won't find me at an Ed Sheeran, Adele or Coldplay gig either but millions feel otherwise 2

Cliff Edge
I can’t understand rap. I mean literally can’t understand it. Maybe my brain just switches off, or I just can’t be bothered, but I can’t unscramble the lyrics, it’s like a foreign language to me. BassTractor
Whilst I do own and play some hip hop including rap, most of it is for different generations and convocations. I'm much more interested in KR telling me how things actually were before the Big Bang. 😐
