Clue was in the background... Don't see the Maple board versions that often, not glossy-shiny just an 'almost there' finish.

0000 Wire Wool to the frets, and Bees wax applied with 0000 Wire Wool to the fretboard. Green Sponge to the back of the neck and Castrol Motorcycle Polish for the body.

The maple board neck is rather lovely, "don't have a maple one" was the justification to MrsPlug!

Found a set of Adagio Rounds in the draw already cut for an Ibby... Matching Red Silks top and bottom... Nice!

Cream Covers on order to try and tie-in the maple board, and help highlight the 'Modified' with the black (screening) painted route... You get the idea...

Gonna wire Vol (A250k or A500k?) Blend (MN250k or MN500k?) and an Artec QTP - Quad Tone (and Bypass) Passive 5 position switch.

The pickups are 4 wire 'Stacked Coils' so you can series/parallel switch them, in a Jazz cover. I'll prolly just go Series.

So dunno if that still counts as a 'Single Coil' - similar idea to a Split P I think - and go A250k as they are not a big meaty pair of std single coils type 'Humbucker' and go A500k

Was gonna go A250 to stop em being to bright?

Edit: @Hellzero A500k and MN500k on order...

Also Davii of MV Pups (FB MP and Reverb) confirmed, suggests no lower than 500k...

Or... you could fill the gap with builder's foam?

Nah.  I like that you are keeping the original route with the J pickups.

If i post more pics of the 'Ghastly Void' hopefully it will make one of them clever types with a 3D printer's teeth itch...

'lil black bezel - central cut out for std jazz N and B sizes - attached with double sided tape so no screw holes and easy-alignment... might even be a print file with the inside pup shape done, just change the outside dims...

If ya catch my drift...

^ I could of kept the original pups 'n pre... but want something different with a bit of a pro-mod look.

Something like this...

but with a bit more border to cover the old route...

I’m not usually a fan of red but that colour really pops. Looks great. 😎

Pickups arrived - really deep...

20231011_184551.thumb.jpg.75557f6e2a6b8622d15f8d3696f5f1ed.jpg

Maybe just the thinnest of sponge layer, or just electrical tape on the pickup bottom and bore a small hole to allow for the wires out on a flush fitting, pup.

Snag City, Arizona!..

Pickups are a monster 27mm deep in their covers - Cavity is 18mm deep...

20231017_162938.thumb.jpg.c8cc8f9063837d9ba42f730bde89fa23.jpg

So I need a channel routed about 8mm deep - to allow for a bit of wire-out, bit of thin foam and some height adjust room for the pickups...

20231017_143258.thumb.jpg.3594f81881e4649d6abb95ba10c904a6.jpg

18mm wide - for the lower winding to fit in, but with the pickup cover ears to screw on to the ledge - and the Length of the existing cavity - to allow for the pickup wire-out and down the hole to the control cavity...

Woke up in a Cold Sweat recalling my last attempt...

Cavity2.thumb.jpg.bb803b1dfbc9fb7707ec1ce35a9314b9.jpg

Gonna put out a plea for someone to save me, from myself...

Gotta get this sorted as i'm in £ for the pickups and donor SR... plus it's going to look and hopefully sound and play soooooo good!

Jack gave a helping hand...

That looked like a recipe for disaster. However, it seems that Mr Daniel helped. Onwards with the build.
