Rich Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 This is Mark King's rig on the current L42 tour. The Markbass amp and cab are instantly recognisable, but what's the unit in the rack below the amp? Any ideas? I don't want to rush out and buy one, I'm just curious. Quote
Maude Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 It's a very expensive minidisc player. Mark's never been able to replicate the session bassist's tracks that were recorded for the albums live, so he's always mimed to backing tracks on minidiscs. The thumb insurance malarkey is the biggest scam ever waiting to happen once his career tails off. PS I might've made that up. 🤫 6 Quote
Wilson_51_ Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 A quick google and I believe it is one of these or at least something similar. https://caveman-audio.com/bas1/ 1 1 Quote

EBS_freak Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Wonder what the routing is. Bypassing the Markbass pre and just using the poweramp? Quote
Rumple Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Noticed that at last nights gig in Croydon but couldn't work out what it was 👍 Maybe he uses it as an expensive DI? Quote
neepheid Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 I read the title of this thread as "Name that rack ear" and I thought to myself "woah, that's some SERIOUS uber-geek level knowledge right there". 3 Quote
peteb Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Has anyone tried any of the Caveman Bass Preamps, rack unit or the more compact pedals?? I must admit that I am a bit curious about them... Quote
