BillO
Hey folks! Need some expert advice. I just bought a C4 synth pedal for my board. Thoughts on whether it should be before or after my Empress Bass compressor? Im leaning before but would like some input. Thanks!
Downunderwonder
Depends what you want to hear, what the synth likes for an input and what comes put of it. No easy answer. You might need 2 compressors, you might not need any. Best way to find out is plug in and play at gig volume.
0175westwood29
what was said above some things like a compressed signal some dont, best thing to do would be to put it in a try it.
xgsjx
Where ever it sounds best in relation to your other pedals & your preference is the best place for it.
Downunderwonder
Can even play it at left/right out.
LukeFRC
I stuck mine pre compressor as I think that's what SA recommended. The other benefit I found is that when I'm trying out patches I can turn my comp up into limiter mode, and then when I try someones patch with way way more gain than I need the compressor stops me blowing my ears off. You can of course stick it where ever and then put a pre everything signal in input 2 and use that to trigger envelope filters etc on the signal of input
fretmeister
Before. For some of the sounds it needs to track the peaks and troughs of the input signal and a compressor would reduce them.
