stonevibe Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Sterling by MusicMan DarkRay with Darkglass distortion circuits. At last an affordable version of the EBMM DarkRay model. I like it and it looks pretty tasty all in black. https://guitarbomb.com/2023/10/24/sterling-by-music-man-darkray-with-darkglass-distortion/ Quote

Thump Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 I'm not too sure how many people will find that an affordable price. I'd be interested if it were about $600 cheaper. It definitely looks good though Quote
steantval Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Not for me, distorted bass and that style of playing does nothing for me, it’s obviously a bass specifically made for specific genres of music. I’ll stick with my tight/punchy 1990 MM Stingray. Quote
MartinB Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 I see a headstock and I want to paint it black 2 2 Quote
Chaddy Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 It sounds dreadful and is overpriced big time. 4 Quote
Rayman Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Pull all the unnecessary cr*p out of it and you have a handful of hundred quids worth of a decent entry level musicman style bass. That’s all. Dark Ray Schmark Ray 🔨👞 (cobblers) Quote
stonevibe Posted October 27, 2023 Author Posted October 27, 2023 You lot are so negative... 🤣 I quite like it, but my first instrument is the guitar and so I play bass like a guitarist (badly), so I would rip riffs on it all day long. Different mindset I guess. Quote
HMX Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Probably worth buying a used Ray 34 and a Darkglass pedal instead. Quote

I think I'd rather keep the distortion on a pedal board. My Darkglass B3K overdrive pedal has a huge range of sounds available and I don't see that range could be achieved with onboard distortion where you've not got all the knobs and switches. 2 Quote
