I'm not too sure how many people will find that an affordable price. I'd be interested if it were about $600 cheaper.

Not for me, distorted bass and that style of playing does nothing for me, it’s obviously a bass specifically made for specific genres of music.

 

I’ll stick with my tight/punchy 1990 MM Stingray.

Pull all the unnecessary cr*p out of it and you have a handful of hundred quids worth of a decent entry level musicman style bass. That’s all.

I quite like it, but my first instrument is the guitar and so I play bass like a guitarist (badly), so  I would rip riffs on it all day long. Different mindset I guess.

I had exactly that and it's an awesome combination. I think I'd rather keep the distortion on a pedal board. My Darkglass B3K overdrive pedal has a huge range of sounds available and I don't see that range could be achieved with onboard distortion where you've not got all the knobs and switches.
