Oh I only mentioned it as he literally says it's the same circuit, rather than inspired by or developed from etc.  Usually cloners aren't quite so blunt!

And that last sentence reminds me of someone...

If they are coming from the diy /freestompboxes scene they would be - “here’s this thing that is around but not available to try”

The ones that are actually retuning circuits to their own taste are doing something new and deserve the credit - someone like Cog effects or 3leaf are creating a new repeatable product out of a common series of circuits and building blocks.

The thing that annoys me slightly is for every Cog effects (for example) who genuinely try and enginerer a better octave for bass players you’ll have others who take a common circuit like a zvek SHO, apply the mods that have been floating around on freestompboxes and other places online and bring it out as an original pedal…. Which is why it wouldn’t surprise me if this fella/lass coming doing the chunk stuff is from the diy scene originally.

(btw I don’t know who it remind you of!)

Speaking of which (the DIY scene) - I'be been borrowing this funky thing from @LukeFRC

It sounds great - with a fixed fast attack it excels at the bubbly funk sound. Build quality is great, I really like the punched lettering.

(It's a Aion's Mutron 3 PCB with a decay know borrowed from the Meatball and the common "Moog mod" seen in the DIY scene )

I’d love to give this a whirl sometime.

Been having a play with the Funky Puppy this evening. It reminds me very much of the EHX QBalls Enigma which I owned for years. It improves on it though in that the drive level is adjustable from the panel and is gated. Like the Enigma, the controls are very sensitive and very interactive. Don’t think it’s for me ultimately but am happy I got to try it out.

That's made me want to give the EHX a go!  The filter/fuzz sounds I get out of my Chunk I can't ever imagine anything by EHX pulling off, so I'm intrigued!

Just to be clear, I’m talking more about the filter. The fuzz in the Chunk and this clone are far better than the distortion in the Enigma. Enigma is a Mike Beigel (Mr. MuTron) creation.

Is there any chance that anyone here who owns the Funky Puppy could be very kind a post an audio clip of just the filter (00Funk) side so I can hear how it sounds? Been after a 00Funk for years and so interested in their Silver Funk, but I can't find any demos anywhere...

P.s. Why are all of these builders in Australia!! 😆😩 Seemed to be the same case a few years back when I was looking for an Animato clone...

Would’ve done but have boxed it up to return to its owner. Sorry.

Sounds like all the demos of the chunk I’ve heard.

Luke is taking a break from the pedal side of the business and selling off remaining stock with 25% off. Some bargains to be had!

I borrowed a Haz recently and really liked it. Dithered too long in getting one that came up on Reverb but now that the Behringer clone is official, I’ll likely go for that.

Yesterday I had nothing but a comp and that metallic green, two-knob DOD FX25 with me in rehearsal. Yes, it makes a good quack, but sometimes worked like a too tightly adjusted comp, and it cut the sound. Wonderful sound, but has to be adjusted carefully. Not as wild as IE.

I miss my big box qtron.

I miss my big box Small Stone & Small Clone. Wish I'd kept the Mini QTron I had for a short while (though "Mini" is a bit of a misnomer, it was a similar size to the Small Stone & Small Clone, which were anything but small).

My mate who plays bass a bit but not a gear geek came around the other day and his only pedal was a mini Qtron in a wooden box - was really nice

IMHO these are the best filters ever made!

Definitely some of my faves there
