cetera
Just picked up one of these second hand and it has a lovely 4ohm/8ohm switch on the back. Any opinions on getting the most out of this sound/efficiency wise? I will be using it as a single cab (saving my bigger Genz 2x12 for bigger gigs). On quieter/lower volume backline gigs should I use it on 8 ohms and push it as required or notch it to 4ohms? I'll be using one of my heads (not sure which) GK400RB, GK700RB-II, GK Legacy800 (can preset to 8 or 4 ohms) or Tech21 VTBass500....
gjones
A few years ago I put my GK MB500 through my Hartke HD112 at 4 ohms and I think I pushed it too far and I knackered it. They're only able to take 300 watts and it had a hard time keeping up with a quietish drummer. So my advice is set it at 8 ohms and if it's not loud enough, for the gigs you need it for, get another cab. Bill Fitzmaurice
Put it in whichever position sounds better. If you can't tell the difference set it at 8 ohms, for minimum current draw from the amp. 2
