Can't believe Jimmy Webb's classic hasn't appeared yet - And I need you more than want you, And I want you for all time...

This was just on TV so would be rude not to post: Dolly Parton I Will Always Love You (apparently she wrote this and Jolene on the same day)!

And while we are on a Country vibe, the great John Prime song, which Dolly among countless others have performed - here's Bonnie Raitt's version of Angel from Montgomery

Very crazy looking singer, Alex Chilton.
The song is considered one of the shortest recordings in pop music and became a million-seller.

Great song. Was thinking of posting the Joe Cocker version from the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour.

I don't tend to be drawn to the happy-clappy, saccharine nonsense of most love songs. For some reason it's the existential angst & misery of loves lost, spurned or unrequited which seems to resonate with me. What an old goth pal of mine used to call 'slash-wrists music'. :)

Something for a chilled out Sunday evening although there is a fair helping of angst mixed in to this modern dance classic. Performed this time in a Jazz style with some very nice DB playing.

Has anybody mentioned Phil Collins "If leaving me is easy.."

That's the one with lovely horn arrangements isn't it?
