peteb Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I have never really got the 'floating thumb' technique down and have developed a perfectly serviceable technique based on anchoring my thumb on the pickup when playing fingerstyle. However, this causes a bit of a problem when playing my Stingray, as I would rather be playing a couple of centimetres or so nearer the neck. I wonder if anyone knows where I can get a thumb rest that I can stick to the scratchplate using double sided sticky tape? I want it to be pretty discreet, no more than 2 cm long and 5mm high, and easily removable if required. Any ideas? Quote
neepheid Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Zero Mod? Attaches with already existing screws in the pickguard and/or pickup. https://www.zero-mod.com/ Quote

Also, all of those models would require you to have your thumb too far away from the E string (for me, at least). Edited November 15, 2023 by peteb 1 Quote

rwillett Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I'll print you something off (once I've repaired both my printers tonight) for nothing and post it off. Ping me some simple dimensions. No charge. Rob 1 1 Quote
Greg Edwards69 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Contact Tom at Thumbrocker and explain what you're after. He was able to design a custom piece for my Squier 50s P from just a couple of photos (that's actually my bass on his website) and sent it over from the US to the UK for a very reasonable price (I believe the postage was only a few quid). 1 Quote
tubbybloke68 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 If you have access to a 3d printer, my young stepson made me these, stuck on with double sided tape so easily removable .Think they look better than ramps personally Quote

I didn’t realise he made a self-adhering one. Keep us posted if you get one and how well it stands up to the rigours of gigging. Quote

peteb Posted December 5, 2023 Author Posted December 5, 2023 (edited) Just to mention that I have fitted the Thumb Rocker to my Stingray and it works great, exactly what I was looking for. So, thanks to @Greg Edwards69 for the suggestion. I might even start taking the Ray out on gigs now! Edited December 5, 2023 by peteb 2 Quote
Greg Edwards69 Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 That's great to hear it's doing the job for you. Fingers crossed the adhesive is strong enough that it doesn't ping off during an energetic performance! 1 Quote
