Grand Wazoo
I love my Promethean now... I can take the head anywhere, plug it in whatever cab, or carry it as a combo and it's got great balls of fire, pukka!
algmusic
Err, it's cool, mate.. Well, I'm no spec, when it comes to tech stuff, but HB stuff isn't 'quality' gear in the end, is it.. I couldn't get on with design anyway, so Ibby remains my best bet.. easy faith
What basis can you say it's not 'quality' gear? I've seen items that don't look as good, but speak to a tech guy and find it's actually better Fair point it's not as pretty as the ibby though.. but for the saving... I'd give the HB a ago
discreet
I've not heard any HB gear, but if you look at this bundle the cabs do look a bit Behringer-like: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_ba500h_bundle.htm Doesn't necessarily mean HB are no good! More information needed!
basswesty
I've had one of these heads for a while now. Cannot fault it for the money. Very loud (@4ohms) and very clean. Useful EQ system that works really well although I usually leave it flat... I have also recorded using my Promethean, excellent results. Faithless
For a long time I've been gagging for that Ibanez PS combo.. well, I really was since I've spotted Genz Benz stuff, which is tad lighter, and while it's a priority to me, I went GB way.. the difference in weight was quite huge - Ibby (1x12, but they don't offer smaller size cabs) weighs 12,5kg along with the head, while GB (1x10)- only 8,2kgs.. I'm waiting for it to be delivered on Monday, we'll see how it goes.. Edited December 18, 2010 by Faithless
jonny-lad
Thomann Promethean anyone?
I found this on the big Ibanez promethean thread on talkbass about the thomann amp. Apparently, Ibanez sub-contracted a company called Beta-Aivin to design the Promethean, and that appears to be the same company who make the Harley Benton bass amps. Bit off topic, but there are also some Roland cube like stuff that appear to come from Beta-Aivin too, like the Thomann bass cube style amp.
