I'd probably go for a Ramones/Clash style white P Bass. 

The very unusual 1979 CF Martin they has just come up in the basses for sale page would be an excellent choice

Thanks....that has got me thinking! If nothing else, it's guaranteed to get Bass players asking what it is. 

 

I know it seems petty, but I bet it weighs a lot. (As seems to be the style at the time! Heavy = Quality).

I found a yellow reissue, a friend described it as like a Jazz bass on steroids.

I was off topic , but being born in 52 doesn’t leave much choice.
 

I do have a MIJ 51 reissue.

The reissues don't have much in common with the originals other than the body and headstock shapes are similar. Different pickups in different positions and a different scale length. I used to own the limited edition 5-string which was essentially a TRB II with the "samurai" body and headstock shape.
