jazzyvee Posted November 23, 2023 Author Posted November 23, 2023 And also a long scale 5 String. https://reverb.com/item/76200998-alembic-series-i-1999-amber 1 Quote
prowla Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 Hmmm - I'm about £23k short of the asking price. Quote
TheGreek Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 A beauty...I am happy to accept this for Xmas. 1 Quote
tauzero Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 The decimal point for the long scale 5 is (at least) one place over from where I'd need it. Plus there would be VAT too. Ouch. Quote
pn_day Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Makes a Wal look like the budget option...! Quote
jazzyvee Posted December 5, 2023 Author Posted December 5, 2023 Hard to price those basses accurately since new ones really went up in price in recent years with a new 4 string Series I starting at $33,500 and 5 stringer Series I starting at $35,500 before any custom options. Both those basses have premium woods so would be more than that new. Second hand prices went up accordingly too but my observations are that many did not reach their original listing prices. That said the market will always dictate and a keen buyer with deep pockets might still be interested at those prices. I wonder why they are up for sale. Quote
Muzz Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 It applies to both, but the pic of the short scale emphasises it: I wouldn't want to pay £23k for something otherwise beautifully made that had such OCD-tweakingly random control placement...c'mon, guys: would it have hurt to space them regularly? Were they just dropped onto the bass and drilled where they fell? Quote
jazzyvee Posted December 9, 2023 Author Posted December 9, 2023 Certainly the short scale is not a standard layout. I've heard that one on record and it sounds incredible. Such a sweet tone that i could, for the right price for me, cope with the non standard layout. Quote
jazzyvee Posted December 11, 2023 Author Posted December 11, 2023 The long scale bass has sold. The owner posted as comment on a Facebook group. The listing says ended but that could mean it was sold through reverb or maybe he got an acceptable offer elsewhere. Quote
