PaulThePlug
Vanish Carpet Cleaner and a washing up brush... Looked like something had been nesting... took out the wadding along with a plastic spoon, Ikea type pencil and a Minions toy - possibly McD's Happy Meal.

Did you consider removing the carpet covering? I have a SWR Goliath Jr 2 2 x 10 incoming and if the carpet covering is secured tightly I am considering giving the carpet fabric a coat or two of Tuff-Cab. I am hoping that the acrylic will soak into the carpet fabric and create a really tough finish. ( all most like Tolex) Anyone on here used Tuff-Cab on carpet or is it wiser to remove the carpet fabric?
PaulThePlug
@JohnDaBass Still work in progress to get it going. It look real tatty in the Faceache pics, so was considering taking the carpet of and Danish Oil... but, It's not all ply, top ledge baffle etc are a chip type board... and the carpet came up pretty good.
Ramsay777
Love a good refurb! I know nothing about these amps but it's cleaned up really well - hope it works 😂
PaulThePlug
Corner Protectors Arrived... Similar, fitted. Wadding and a Stapler arrived... Might do the Wadding Stuffing tonight. @Ramsay777 There is a light crackle 'n hum thru the speakers when the Master is Wanged to and fro.. but no through signal sound. As no signal out the Tuner Out, going to start to look at the Input and Send Return Jack Sockets Fingers crossed something simple. @JohnDaBass I'd go Carpet Cleaner and a Hair Trimmer... Other is likely to result in a mess and possible regret... If it don't come up OK after a Wash and Short Back 'n Sides then go Plan B... PaulThePlug
Wadded... @stevie advised to keep the wadding away from the port... All stapled up to prevent wafting... Edited December 7, 2023 by PaulThePlug

bass_dinger
I have one of those combo amps too, but mine appears to be an older model (it has a 3-digit serial number, different graphics on the front panel, and a DI out above where yours has the two ¼" jack sockets. I used it in a ukulele band, (acoustic 5 string bass, rehearsals and live) and a church band (electric 5 string bass, as my backline). I tended to run it with the tweeter off, and the tone controls all set to Flat. I was fascinated by the pointless little shelf at the front - made it look more petite and dainty. Did you get yours working? Edited October 6 by bass_dinger
PaulThePlug
Not as yet... it's on the list. Been sorting my Thunderbird, going to re-visit my Ricken-Thing, also got a Crybaby Wah to look at... Realy doesn't like running with a Fuzz... But would be nice to get working... mate has a Sig Gen and Scope, so gonna pay him a visit. Quite like the 'Washing Machine' look... What of the Aural Enchancer? More likely, I didn't understand what it was meant to do. And I realised that what I really needed was a Talent Enhancer, so I didn't bother with the Aural Enchancer after that. If you can't get it to work, think of it as a very cheap cab, with the space for a Class D amplifier in the slot. You could even find space for a mini footpedal tuner in there. bass_dinger
On 06/10/2024 at 13:00, PaulThePlug said: What of the Aural Enchancer? So, I used the amp a few times over the past few weeks, in a rehearsal and two live situations. The D and G strings tended to dominate - that was a deliberate choice on my part, as I wanted those notes to cut through. When the guitarist complained about the volume, it was easy to change my technique and cut back on the treble. All in all, the smaller cab seems to give a tighter, more aggressive sound than the Ashdown cab and head that I am more used to. I still don't know what the Aural Enchancer does - but the rest of the amp does a job, and has a small footprint. For the £20 that you paid, you can either use it as a cheap combo amp, or convert it into a bird box big enough to frighten the neighbours ("yeah, mate, eagles used to nest in the area back in the 1850s, and the council want to reintroduce them as part of the rewilding project....") PS the cooling fins on the back are necessary. I don't play many songs in a set, but have found that the fins get warm. If I was going to use it for a one hour set, I would perhaps put a little PC fan on a bracket to mitigate the warmth. PaulThePlug
Update: Twas the jack sockets... sealed 7 or 9 pin units. Think the IP is grounded with no jack they were worn so wouldn't un-ground. The Board Sockets had a different pin out, so Chassis mounted the sockets (upside down for room) and fly-wired to the board. Need to give it a proper go.
