I'd recommend getting in touch with one of the guitar magazines. Its a good story that would make an interesting piece. A nationally published magazine would probably have the authority to get a response from the Who organisation.

Guitarist magazine can be contacted at [email protected] or on 01225 442244

Great idea thanks!

I think the bass returned to auction where it was picked up but the weird fantasist / liar / crazy guy who runs Essex Recording Studios.

I had a bass that was played by Entwistle with photos and never thought to mention it to the the new owner.

This is just utterly pathetic and patent nonsense.

WTF is the story with that guy, seems to have a lot of instruments with a greater or lesser connection to some well known musicians but at mad prices. Is it money laundering?

No idea. I think he's just mad. The problem is that it artificially inflates vintage values, making previously affordable instruments crazy prices.

One guitar dealer I spoke to said he never bothers to mention previous artist ownership in listings as it's not really much of a factor unless it's a defining instrument (Gary Moore's Les Paul, etc.). These people probably played and owned thousands of guitars.
