Sansamp programmable BDDI switches

The footswitches on my Sansamp Programmable BDDI have taken to only working sometimes.

Anyone else had this problem?

Is there an easy fix?

I believe the switches are a bit weird and not standard DPDT ones, so probably not easy to replace?

 

Or if anyone know a pedal fixer anywhere around Birmingham or Manchester, let me know.

I've never looked inside mine but I've assumed from the way they work that they are non latching/momentary switches. You hold them down to programme the settings so the switching must be done in the circuitry, the switch is just sending a signal to the processor. Mine all click when pressed so I'd guess that's a spring giving a good positive contact.

 

I'd be looking to see how clean it is inside the box blowing out any dirt/dust/spiders that have accumulated, paying special attention to the switches of course. If that doesn't fix it use a bit of Servisol switch cleaner (not WD40 or anything oil based) might solve the problem. Only on the dodgy ones though. No point in disturbing anything working

Update for anyone who's interested:

I enailled Tech 21, they basically said straighten out the springs attached to the footswitches that hit the actual switches inside.

 

A bit of switch cleaner can't hurt, can it?

If Tech21 doesn't recommend it why take the risk? There's no crud building up in there to clean.

I took the sides off and blew all the dust out, switch cleanered all the switches (I know, I know...) and ham-fistedly prodded the springs with an allen key until they looked about in the middle-ish... something worked as it seems to be back to normal.

Here endeth the lesson.
