I leeched the transcription on Sunday and had a go at it tonight. Let's just say it won't be ready by the weekend... OTOH, it's now well and truly on my to-learn list. It's irritatingly catchy and will be a lot of fun to play once I've got it under my fingers! 2 Quote

I'm probably leaving myself open to being flamed to death but... A few years ago, I did a version of this and stuck it on YT. It's not note-for-note, but it was a lot of fun working it out and it's a lovely line to play. Persistence pays off! 5 2 Quote
chris_b Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Run Run Rudolph i OK, but I'd rather not play any of the others. 1 Quote
diskwave Posted December 20, 2023 Author Posted December 20, 2023 Grt stuff all... some good ones there. Trouble with Slade is if the guitarist doesnt get that AC30 middly farty tone it doesn't always work, amazing how strummy it actually is. 1 Quote

I'm making s l o w progress with it - the verse riff is needing a lot of metronome work - but I'm determined to crack it. Might suggest it for the 80s band if we get a gig close to Christmas next year, as it's so nice and upbeat. 1 1 Quote
Happy Jack Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Pretty much anything by The Shaggs. Quote
Angel Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 I never liked that Christmas Wrapping song so I never paid any attention to it, I never realised that the bassline was so darned interesting! 1 Quote
stewblack Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 I don't actively like anything in the Christmas song genre, but I don't have to like a tune to earn money playing it, so it's all good . The Wham one is probably my favourite because it's really simple so I've never had to learn it or even listen to the original. Quote
uncle psychosis Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 As a Christmas treat to myself I learned the bass part to Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by the Jackson 5. Killer line, and a lot of fun. Merry Christmas! 1 Quote

markbunney Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 We learned Merry Christmas Everyone this year, which was fun to play. We only did it up to the key change part though Quote
TrevorR Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Always loved playing this Mariah Christmas song - though not one of the usual suspects you might be thinking of. The final couple of minutes where it goes all full on gospel is great fun to play… Quote
