Beedster
Lots of symptoms, not seeing many treatments?
Beedster
An effective treatment for me has been switching almost exclusively to upright, where the costs and logistics of gear experimentation and switching are so ludicrous as to force me to stick with the same two instruments (one of which I've owned since 2015), strings, and PUPs for several multiples of their electric bass equivalent. That for largely audio reasons I need to use PA rather than backline adds a further layer to the treatment 👍 Edited December 18, 2023 by Beedster

At least, they have with me. As I have got older by lumbar region has become increasingly knackered. So this has filtered out all those marvellous basses that weigh over 8lbs! Then a spot of arthritis in the hands and other joints mean swicthing to short scale is most comfortable - be gone GAS for pesky long scale basses. But most liberating of all - and possibly something sensible - on behalf of my band I invested in a fine brace of RCF EVOX 8 pas, one of those mysterious voodoo jobbies that can sit behind you without feeding back. They are paying me back the depreciation. Now I have ZERO GAS for anything remotely back line, I just plug into the desk. Works a treat.

Lovely, totally agree re backline, my heart no longer misses several beats when I see either/both of the words 'Mesa' or 'Boogie' on BC/eBay/Reverb

Damned thing blew a valve the first time I used it in anger, took half the pcb with it. That wasn't cheap. 🤪

Looks like days of the year is the next logic target. 🙈 Could be a different way - Take a credit and by a bass. Do it again until the monthly credit payment goes at least the half of your monthly job salary. Done.

Rich
Breaking into uncontrollable laughter at the merest sight of the phrases "best for metal?", "waste of TIM" and "Mark King or Flea?", none of which make any sense to anyone outside these premises.

Steady. Next thing you know you'll stir the 'Just Stop Cliquey In-jokes' brigade into action.
