Chienmortbb
Just looking at some of the other new Sire Models and they are quoiting Sept 13th. They will be in te same consignment fingers crossed but don't hold you breath. Just as an additional comment. I have always found Andertons' customer service to be first class and I have bought lots from them over the years. Thomann also are first rate. Nothing wrong with Anderton's customer service from a friendliness/initial responsiveness point of view. Their powers of procurement are a worry though. Last year I tried to get a price out of them for some custom shop DiMarzio pickups. By the time I had a response, the pickups were already on their way across from the USA courtesy of an eBay seller who didn't give a monkeys about geographical restrictions. Now this might have been them getting poor service from their distributor, but I got fed up chasing it and took matters into my own hands. Between that and declaring most (but not all) of Scotland north of the central belt to be "remote", I think they're having a bit of a 'mare with some of their internal workings right now. thisisswanbon
Just cancelled with Andertons and ordered with Thomann! Appreciate the shout. I've gone for the Natural finish Z7 4 string, they had 1 left in stock that needs to go through quality (hence the 2-5 days lead time). Even if I don't get it any quicker, I'm happier to use a more forthcoming company. They did mention there are no more coming until November now... thisisswanbon
This is exciting! New lead time 10-13 weeks for new orders though 😬

Jonesy
I remember there being pretty long wait times when the P5's came out a few years ago and the forum was full of people getting annoyed about the wait times. Saw these on FB today.... Looks like Sire can get shipments to the US, these shipped from Sweetwater.

Paddy777
Does anyone with the Z3 know if the music man control plate fits straight in like Jazz control plates do? It looks like it probably “should” from the videos, but that means nothing. I find the 20hz bass frequency on the Heritage preamp makes it pretty rubbish, but could get on board with the idea of sticking a John East pre on it 😁 I’ve always loved how Sire’s feel/play and the Z3 tempts me (which, tbf, isn’t that difficult)

I can’t find it on Sire’s site or via any of the UK retailers

Cato
Short version: They like the Sire as much and in some ways more than the Ray34. Edited October 1 by Cato

la bam
I've seen a YouTube vid saying the Z3 has a trim pot on its preamp to bolster or tame it.

That is correct, the Sire preamps do indeed have a trim pot. There's deffo one in my Z7, put it that way.
la bam
Wow! Got my z3 today in black sparkle! Its an absolute stunner! Came well set up and ready for action. Sounds great, eq very strong and you can get huge tonal differences. Active and passive works great. Lovely neck and feels quite light (I'd estimate 9lbs). Photos online don't do these justice.
la bam
Played my z3 in the 80s band at practice last and was really impressed. Set the active eq all centred, set the amp to flat and it sounded brilliant. Cut through everything and was nice and warm too! Probably the perfect result if it sits nice and centre, then it's just a small tweak either way should any problems arise. Have to say I love these as the d and g strings are very prominent so you have a real equal volume across the fretboard, something I could never get with my Fenders.
wjoyce
I'm *really* happy with my Z3 but the bass pot centre detent, which was barely apparent when it was delivered, has now disappeared altogether. I really can't be bothered with the hassle of returning it because it's perfect except for that, so anybody know if it's possible to just buy a new pot? Is that an off-the-shelf component? I'm guessing that it could be tricky to find as it's also a push-pull pot?
la bam
Full practice with the Z3 today. Massive sound. Eq on bass centred. Bit of low mid boost on amp. Absolutely gorgeous sound. Rich, thick but you could hear every night. Very easy to play. These are stunning basses.
Misdee
I've got one of these and they are shockingly good basses for the money. I've played basses that cost ten times the price that weren't put together as well. Seriously. I'm having some problems adjusting to the neck profile, it's a bit more beefy than a MM Stingray, but I'm sure if I played it more I would get used to it. I wish more affordable basses were of this standard back in the olden days when I started playing.
